Šticna and Golavec
Šticna and Golavec
We start at Toplice pri Zagorju (Spa by Zagorje) and ascend past the colony of housings towards the Podstrana settlement. Here, we turn right onto an unpaved road crossing a field that takes us to a large rock. There, we turn right to an ascending forest path, which we follow until a larger clearing (electrical lines), which we cross and then turn left to an ascending path. This is the start of a steep ascent along a well-used path. Soon we arrive to the remains of buildings dating back to mining times, and moving past them, we follow the well-used path to the top. Once we get to the top, we can enjoy excellent views of Zagorje. Furthermore, we can see all Zasavje peaks and in the distance also the Kamnik Alps as well as our pride and joy, Triglav. From the top of Šticna, we make a descent in the direction of Vrh nad Čolnišami and get to a forest path which takes us to the village, where we get to a paved road which we follow to a crossroads, where we turn left and, turn left again after a few meters and continue past the last few houses. After the last house, we make a gentle ascent and soon get to a clearing in the forest, which we cross. From there, we follow the forest road for a few more steps and get to Golavec.
Time: 1 hour 30 min to Šticna and 20 min to Golavec
