1410 Zagorje ob Savi
Castle Medija or Medija castle (German: Gallenegg) is located in Podlipovica, a settlement in the municipality Zagorje ob Savi. Around 1944, the Partisans razed the castle and the stables, while the chapel and part of the castle wall still remain today. The castle is supposed to also have and underground tunnel, which is supposed to have connected the castle with the Izlake spring (Medija Springs). It has sadly been collapsed and filled.
In the 12th century, Castle Medija was an owned by the Lebek family from around Vače and by the Gall family from the Gamberk hill. The latter family is also where the castle got its German name Gallenek (Medija) from. The Slovenian name, Mudey, is first mentioned in the 14th century.
